About The Henry Lawson High School
At THLHS, we are proud of our school and our achievements within the school and the Grenfell community. Named after the poet Henry Lawson, who was born in 1867 on the Grenfell goldfields, our school has a strong tradition of success in a diversity of fields including academic, community and sporting areas.
Despite our humble size of approximately 220 students, our school has participated successfully in the Archibull Prize for the last few years, receiving a highly commended in 2014, and Runner-Up Grand Champion in 2015. As a rural school our students engage with the goals of the Archibull Prize, keenly investigating and commenting on sustainable practices in the rural industry.
The school also has a formidable reputation in the Science and Engineering Challenge, debating, and sporting, with school students even travelling overseas to represent Australia on several occasions. Our school band also has a reputation for quality, often dominating eisteddfods in the community. The Ag department at school also regularly travels around the state (and even interstate) to participate in animal showing and junior judging, and entering students in competitions, shows, and events like Kids Teaching Kids.
At The Henry Lawson High School we embrace our motto of “Challenge, Encourage, Achieve”.
